In October 2004 I had a baby by C-Section. By February 2005 I had back surgery to remove a herniated disc. That winter after my baby was born I was in crippling pain and had to put my baby in a stroller in the house so that I didn't drop her. The pain through my back, down my leg and to my foot was unbearable. I couldn't sit, stand, walk or lay down. The surgery relieved a lot of the pain but having occurred only 4 and ½ months after a C-Section I was very weak. I went through a lot of rehabilitation and the pain lessened over the next three years (although it never went away completely).
My husband and I wanted another child. I consulted my Orthopaedic Surgeon about another pregnancy and he stated that I must be very cautious - stay active, eat well, and that I would still most likely be looking at 3 months of bed rest at the end of my pregnancy. Jen, whom I knew of because of her amazing work with my young cousin with Cerebral Palsy, began coming to my home weekly when I was only a couple of months pregnant and worked with me until the end. As a result, I never experienced any back pain during this pregnancy. I never spent a moment on bed rest. I worked until I was 39 weeks pregnant. I went into the hospital for another C-Section and was ready to come out that afternoon. My recovery was speedy and I was back to work and exercising after 6 weeks.
I have visited many doctors, acupuncturists, physiotherapists, chiropractors and no one helped me like Jen. I felt better from working with her than I did after my surgery. I owe the health and wellness of myself and of my new baby daughter to Jen, she helped me so much - I am even thinking of a third baby!
